HEY I’M MISS TIQUE

Hi there, I’m so glad you’ve found me. I’m Miss Tique and I am the director of Suspensions Aerial Arts and Burlesque.

I’m a Gemini, a night owl, and I love espresso and tequila. I’ve performed my entire life, dabbling in everything from theatre, music, singing, circus, dance and more.

I grew up in Margaret River in the South West of Western Australia and spent my 20s living and working here and overseas as a professional dancer and aerialist, as well as instructing dance, aerial and pole fitness classes.

I’ve performed on stage with DJs and bands, appeared in music videos for The Voltaire Twins, Jeremy Loops, J.V. Rail and Drapht and as a commercial dancer across Perth’s nightlife venues.

I worked for Rumours Entertainment in Dubai UAE, performing as a dancer and aerialist at hundreds of venues and events and working alongside big-name artists as they toured the globe. I then moved to California with the intention of auditioning for cruise ships and theme parks in LA, but instead found myself in the underground scene of smoky Blues clubs in downtown San Diego. This is where my love of burlesque as a performance art evolved. I was able to encompass my love of the stage, theatre and dance with the more risquΓ© elements of my pole dance and aerial training.

For the first time in my career, I felt genuinely myself. The unique quirkiness and versatility of burlesque meant my confidence levels skyrocketed and a brand-new burning flame of desire and passion evolved.

I thrive on creating characters and telling stories on stage, but most of all I am incredibly passionate about teaching these skills to other women and opening their eyes to the glorious world of burlesque.

It truly is the performance art for everyone no matter age, ability, background, identity or life experience.

If you’re looking for an adult’s dance class in the Margaret River region or South West, you’ve come to the right place!

THE JOURNEY SO FAR

Suspensions began in 2018. I had just arrived home from the USA a few weeks prior, and a friend of mine asked me to put together a fun hen’s night for her.

Through word-of-mouth I was booked more frequently, and after a performance at Fringe Festival I had enough interest to start up weekly classes.

I was blown away by the number of women wanting to give burlesque, pole dance and aerial hoop a go!

Fast forward a few years and I now run weekly burlesque classes, I have continuous bookings for parties and events throughout the year, workshop series dotted throughout the South West on a regular basis and have produced more than five sold-out performances.

My long-term goal is to secure a permanent venue so I can expand my offering of weekly classes.
